Bought switch to replace original unfortunately vacuum still not working? switch very easy to replace, I will try and switch filters next and see if that helps now I know there is power going to switch.

I decided to try and change the switch myself, since it would have been at least £40 for a callout charge for a technician. Only concern I had was how difficult it would be to get at. For those who want to have a go, on the "Animal", this is the process. Pull off the two wheels - fair amount of force required. There are then six screws to undo, for which you will need an allen key. Ideally one with a long handle, since a couple of the screws are fairly deeply embedded, and to get at two of them, you have to remove the filter. I decided not to take the cover completely off, since that could have caused problems with the rewind mechanism, so eased off just enough to get at the switch. I think Dyson could have been a bit more generous with the cable to the switch, but was relatively easy job to get at the switch, using pliers to hold the switch and the cable connectors, remove the old one, fit the new one, and then carefully put it all back together again. Because I had not taken off the cover completely, I did not have to worry about the rewind mechanism on the other side. Whole job took about 15 minutes, being careful in the process.

Power Switch - Dyson DC07 - They don't fit!! 09 December 2008
Delivery and service fine (although why pay 2 lots of delivery when in 1 envelope)?!! Power Switch does not work when fitted back into the switch housing on top of Dyson! It sticks in the on position so is useless, must be a problem with the design somewhere. Put the old switch back in and no problem with fitting, unfortunately the old switch doesn't work!! Have rated poorly because of this.
