perfect match to Hotpoint WT960P 25 May 2017

As Mat (video guide) says this is a big job but if careful and methodical can be done. Time to strip out machine, label and photoghraph all bits including where screws come from was 41/2 hours. Drum in two bits thank goodness therefore easy to dismantle. Warning hear - dont whang the end of the spindle to shift it, be gentle and take time to encourage it away from the drum casing and bearings. If machine old this will be a trying task, as will removing the bearings; here you need lots of force and in my case ignorance with lots of penetrating oil. At this point clean everything that you can get your hands on - very messy lots of horrible gunk in every crevice and surface - but be meticulous with the bearing housing and shaft which I sprayed sparingly with lithium grease. New bearings simple to fit. Reverse procedure, and a lot quicker. Time to this point 6 hours. Bearings are perfect match, sturdy and well made and work without any problems. Reassembly of all bits again easy if you are methodical. Overall took 8 hours.

Noisy washing machine - replace bearings 19 May 2017

Straightforward, contacted chat with problem, they advised parts needed, watched espares video and away i went, took me about two days. Tip 1: soak old bearings in WD40 overnight, easier to knock out. Tip 2: Take lots of photos as you strip it down. Machine now running like new. Parts ordered at 6pm delivered next morning as promised.

Good product - not the easiest to fit 25 February 2017

My washing machine drum was very unstable and kept damaging the gasket. There was also play front to back. Espares info suggested the symptoms indicated worn bearings which were duly ordered and arrived quickly. Unfortunately on dismantling the machine (very good video) I discovered it wasn't the bearings, but the spider, which was in three pieces. Espares only sells the spider with the bearings and I sent a message to send me the spider, as I already had the bearings. However, I didn't get a reply and ended up getting the spider elsewhere. Having said that, I decided to replace the espares bearings anyway, following their video advice. It wasn't easy and required a lot of hammering, but the job was eventually completed and the machine is now singing sweetly! Espares videos are very informative - pity the spider and bearings are not sold separately.

I can barely hear my washing machine now! 23 February 2017

I read the reviews and followed the advice on the video as well as another reviewer who said they wrote everything down for what they were doing, so that when time came to put back together, I could follow my notes backwards. Made reassembly very quick. My bearings were seized in place, so removing them took time and had to completely smash them out. Very happy with end result. Washing machine purrs now. Hopefully get another 10 years out of it!

Great quality fittings 09 January 2017

The drum in my Hotpoint WT960P washing machine was not in any way loose, but was noisy (deafening) in operation. It made a grinding noise so despite no movement between tub and drum, the bearing/s were clearly worn. The three service parts are of excellent quality and fit for the replacement task. I also purchased a new drum seal as recommended in the “how to” video. I could not have undertaken this task without the video – it is extremely good. My machine is different to the one in the video but to understand the sequence of disassembly was essential. For removal of the retaining bands on the door seal I watched the video for these items; again, essential viewing for me. Before starting I watched the video and made a list of the disassembly sequence so I could make a reverse list when it came to putting it all back together. As part of the process I took lots of photos, as recommended: essential. Getting the drum shaft out of the old bearings and subsequent removal of the old bearings was hard work; as was re-fitting the new bearings. Tapping the shaft after removal of the pulley wheel did nothing, nor did a few hefty whacks with a club hammer (I did use a piece of wood to protect the shaft!). I eventually removed the eighteen screws holding the two halves of the tub together, allowed some penetrating oil to soak in around the bearing and shaft, then took the front end away and holding the back of the tub, banged the end of the shaft onto a timber placed on the garage floor. That did it. I tried using a cold chisel to remove the back bearing as shown in the video but this was clearly going to damage the housing. A socket extension rod was used instead and this worked without damage, although a very laborious exercise. The front seal would not come out easily, but was coaxed by fitting a screwdriver blade under the top lip and tapping the end with a mallet to crush part of the seal sides to release some of the friction. A pull with a mole wrench then got it out. Removal of the front bearing was a repeat of the process for the removal of the back bearing, again using penetrating oil although I’m not sure what benefit that really had. A good clean with emery cloth replaced the shine on the shaft and bearing housing. Fitting the new bearings was also a lengthy task but instead of tapping a bolt and then a cold chisel around the bearing edges, I used the old bearings placed over the new and tapped the edges of those until everything was flush. Three days later (I left 24 hours for the silicone on the tub gasket to set) and after following my re-assembly sequence and photos, I got everything back together again. Excellent parts service and brilliant “how to” videos from espares.

Not easy but doable and a great result 31 December 2016

The bearings themselves are excellent, immediately became apparent just how bad the old ones were. The job took me 8 hours over 2 days but would definitely be quicker a second time plus I took the chance to clean all other bits and bobs. Follow the video on eSpares! It doesn't cover drier elements but that was just a housing and some pipe work to disconnect. Tips from me: 1 take lots of pictures, from different angles; 2 put screws under labelled masking tape in the order in which disconnected, so you can reverse the process after; 3 label disconnected hoses (especially for a washer/drier) and electrical connectors; 4 the centre spindle will be tight but protect it with a block of wood before taking a hammer to it - I had to file back a corner of mine for the drive wheel to fit back on; 5 don't expect the bearings to come out (or new ones in) as easily as the video! It took 30 minutes of brute force to get the old ones out. Use an appropriately sized socket if possible to punch out evenly. I used some silicone spray from my car tools to get the new bearings in; 6 ensure the drive wheel is absolutely tightly done up so that the wheel turns true in relation to the drum casing; 7 the drive belt is really hard to get back on. I tried a number of ways but couldn't do it on my own, in the end I had my wife turning the drum while I was winding the belt onto the drum wheel. Don't be put off if that sounds a lot. Maybe you'll be better or your machine easier. It was hard and I'm tired out but I'm really glad I did it and compared to the jet engine previously howling in my utility room, this 9 year old machine is now silent.

does exactly what it says on the tin 19 December 2016

Quality bearings restored the machine to its old, quiet self and gave it a new lease of life. Not a difficult job, bit fiddly but just keep in mind how much you are saving, the fact that you are fitting genuine parts and that E spares are behind you with videos and help. A quick tip - when installing the first bearing (I did the larger one first) put the new one (both) in the freezer overnight, put the casing with the metal insert over a bucket, pour boiling water on it (just the metal housing - about 3 kettles full) hold the new bearing over the hole and line it up and then simply drop it in. The bearing will have shrunk slightly (cold) and the hole will have expanded (hot). You only get one chance. Very quickly (about 2 secs) the bearing will bite but it saves having to drift it in. For the second bearing it's up to you as the hot water might get into the bearing you have just fitted and ruin it, personally I drifted it in. Taking the drum out and putting it back fairly simple really but always use best quality parts from E sure - don't want to have to do it again, do you ?

Always find what I want 13 September 2016

Hope these bearings will last longer than 18months. It's a big job to fit them, so glad my husband is an engineer. An oven element also had to be replaced in a similar period of time, let's hope my luck has turned. I will continue to use you.
