This home lighting tip could save you £200 every year…

When it comes to saving on your energy bills, there are plenty of common methods for cutting costs. From putting your central heating on a timer to saving money with your oven by bulk cooking, we all have our ways of managing our energy usage… but one of the most effective methods of all is changing up the lighting in your home.

Enter LED bulbs! When lighting your home, it’s truly staggering just how much money and energy you can save by switching to LED bulbs instead of the usual incandescent bulbs. Let’s take a look and learn why LED bulbs are the ones YOU want bringing light into your household!

Better results, lower costs

The first (and most obvious) benefit of switching to LED bulbs is that they cost a fraction of the price that other bulbs cost. Aside from LED bulbs, there are three types of bulbs commonly used throughout households; incandescent, halogen and CFL. However, none of these bulbs are optimal when it comes to lighting up your home in an energy-efficient manner. Incandescent bulbs are the least energy efficient, and though halogen and CFL bulbs are better, they tend to emit whiter and colder lights, making them better suited for work environments than the warm, comfortable lighting more suitable for households.

This brings us to LED bulbs. When compared to regular incandescent bulbs, LED bulbs use 90% less energy and can last up to an incredible 50,000 hours, with some brands even claiming 100,000 hours. That’s a lifespan potentially 50 times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs! This means that, though LED bulbs cost a little more to buy, you’ll end up saving much more money on your energy bills (as well as replacement bulbs) in the long run. LED bulbs aren’t just more efficient than incandescent bulbs either. It’s estimated that the annual running cost of an LED bulb is only £1.71, compared to £2.04 for CFL bulbs and a whopping £8.42 for halogen bulbs. Overall, LED bulbs could save you up to £200 per year, and over £2000 in a decade!

Going green

Not only are LED bulbs more cost-effective and energy-efficient than other bulbs, but by extension, they’re much more eco-friendly too. Here, you can clearly see how LED bulbs use less energy than other bulbs to achieve the same level of brightness. For example, an 18-watt LED bulb can achieve 1300 lumens of brightness. Compared to other bulbs, such as incandescent bulbs which require 100 watts to reach the same amount of lumens, there really is no comparison. LED bulbs win by a landslide, lighting up your home more efficiently and in a far more environmentally friendly way by using significantly less energy.

Everything you need

Best of all, there’s no catch to the benefits of LED bulbs. In fact, on top of saving energy, money and the environment, you can also get LED bulbs built for every purpose in exactly the same way as incandescent bulbs. LED bulbs are not only available in all of the shapes and sizes that you could ask for, but they also come with all of the various fittings too. That means you can fit LED bulbs to any lights, lamps and sockets throughout your home, allowing you to easily and conveniently swap all of your bulbs without leaving a single area unlit.

All in all, LED bulbs are the perfect solution for keeping your home well-lit whilst saving money and energy.
