  How easy is it fix a tumble drier? 24 January 2014

  This is a straight-forward repair. Its actually the second time I have done this - this replacement though is, I think better quality than the first. The main problem is to fit the new belt around the drum without having to almost completely dismantle the machine! Taking it bit by bit I was able to do this pretty easily once I had dismantled the rear spindle assembly. the only other tricky bit is getting the belt around the tension wheel - a process which I had forgotten. On my model I finally sort it out - remove the spring (which provides the tension) and then move the motor over as far as it will go, move the belt into position, re-tension the motor and pull (you might need pliers to get enough grip) the spring back into position - all done! Took me about an hour from starting to un-screw things to the wife loading the first batch of drying. Definitely cheaper than buying a new dryer and actually less time than trawling around electric shops (real or digital).

  We received the belt really quickly and it was fitted relatively easily, except we didn't have a manual, and the original belt was shreaded so it's exact position was a bit of trial and error. But it's working now, and all our clothes are drying beautifully, which is just as well as it is a very wet December

  As the old belt had broken I did not have a pattern for the configuration of the belt round the drive spindle and the tensioning wheel. the video on the website was for another make which this same belt also fits
