Difficult to fit but worth it in the end 27 January 2009
Door fell off tumble dryer ended up having to buy a hinge and also hinge bearings. The hinge bearings are plastic and not really value for money but needed to fit the new hinge. It was a bit fiddly to repalce the hinge bearings but worth it in the end. Postage was a bit steep too (£2.99) as they weigh very little and the package was small.

The bearings were exactly equivalent to the broken ones so fitted perfectly. The inner door panel needs gentle but firm prising to access the area (after removing the screws)but otherwise the replacement was easy. Remember to fit the hinge to the bearings before replacing panel!

Again a quality issue because I couldn't believe a manufacturer can make a washing machine door held on with these two bitty bits of plastic! Fitting a bit tricky, but I did it and I've never attempted anything like that before!

Hinge pin had sheared (also needed replacing) and damaged bracket. Instructions not great but reasonably easy to fit by removing door inner trim by moving locating tabs.

Fitting Hotpoint Hinge Bearings 24 October 2008
The pair supplied were identical to the original and were fitted without any modification whatsoever. FITTING: 1) Support the door and remove one screw from each hinge. Loosen the remaining screws so that you can twist the hinge slightly to expose the empty screw hole. 2) Put a 1/2" washer on each removed screw and replace in the holes without passing through the hinge bearing. These will hold the hinge support bracket inside the housing in position. 3) Remove the other two screws completely. 4) Separate the door front from the back by removing the three screws and gently prising apart. 5) Remove the old hinges noting their exact location and insert the new ones correctly.Reassemble the door. 6) Take each replacement hinge and secure loosely with the screws (without washers) that have been removed. 7) Remove the screws with washers, remove the washers and then replace them. 8) Making sure all parts are seated, align and gradually tighten all screws until the hinges are quite secure.
