  Fitting TY14124 tricity element to AEG 23 November 2008

  With original AEG spares becoming either very expensive or difficult to obtain, it is useful to know cheaper alternatives like this can be used. Some minor adaptation was required to make this fit the AEG3210BU. The additional side brackets require bending to prevent fouling the oven recess. The mounting holes require elongating as the centres are slightly wider than the AEG 311644800 element. It is best to gently tighten the spade connectors before refitting as the element spade is not quite as heavy a gauge as the original, this will ensure a good electical connection. So a little extra work fitting but still a good replacement.

  As a direct replacement for an AEG D2160-1 Main Oven Fan it's not quite 5 stars. The mounting plate holes are very small compared to original AEG part; so don't align 100% with holes in oven case. If time permits drill out holes in mounting plate to slightly larger diameter. It does fit, but it's very fiddly.
