Only had product fitted by me for 3 days but after first use it certainly grilled my cheese on toast as expected. I fitted it following website video and it took me an hour or so to do so I gave 5 stars for this. The product itself fitted okay but was different to the one I took out. The element appeared to be of a slightly smaller girth than the original I took out. Also the original had one screw bracket thing in the centre to secure to the roof of the oven where as the one that came had two. No screws came with the product so as it stands I could only secure one side to the roof. I have given 4 stars for the quality and value. I could can't really mention anything about the quality after 3 days nor can compare it against another part but compared to the orinal it doesn't look as substantial; likewise for value as I didn't shop around but it certainly saved me money by going down the DIY route.

The only awkward part of fixing on my oven was that there was a connector block to the right of the connectors which was held in place by the fixing bolt of the element. In fairness if you had a suitable long socket it is easy to replace. I only had an adjustable which made it slightly awkward.

Hi Tombradshaw Replacing an oven element is a fiddly job, and if you are not confident in replacing it yourself, I would recommend talking to a qualified technician.

Many grill elements can be regulated by the oven thermostat. ensure the door is open and this is set to full.

  • Q Riveted inside? 1 Answer

My element seems to be riveted on the inside, either that or the two screws are badly corroded. Doesn't seem to have a philips head or star?

As you can see on this part some elements have bolts fitted to the bracket that pass through the rear wall of the oven and have nuts and washers fixing from the back. Remove the rear cabinet to access and remove these nuts.
