Ordered part from this site as it advertised "Genuine Part". Part looked genuine, fitted right first time with no problems. Very happy. If it improves my wife's cooking, even better.

My oven is 13 years old and the original element in lasted 11 years. When that element finally burnt out it was replaced by a local specialist with a copy which I was assured was "as good as the genuine one but half the price". He still charged £70 fitted though. It lasted just over 18 months at which point I came to sSpares for a genuine replacement and fitted it myself. It took all of 10 minutes to fit and all I needed was a screwdriver - easy! I would say that either the coils weren't manufactured perfectly or they got a bit bent in the packaging but with a bit of flexing I got them to fit the supports and get the terminals through the holes in the back of the oven hence the loss of a star on the quality but it's working fine.

To help prevent damage to a fan element turn the thermostat down to minimum for thirty seconds before switching off. Switching straight off stopping the circulation fan immediately when the element is hot can cause overheating and damage the element as the circulating air stops.

I want to remove the back plate but first I must remove the lamp cover. It is extremely stiff and will not budge. Can you help?

Try heating up with a hair dryer or squirting some releasing fluid like WD40 or use a strap wrench for removing jam jar tops available from supermarkets.
