Ordered new door release button for Panasonic microwave that arrived via normal post after two days. Fitted very easily as had retained spring from old broken button. New button just slid into place and hey presto was working like new again. Must have taken less than 2 minutes to fit to get excellent results. Should have bought this several years ago as the button had been dodgy for some time!

A similar replacement to the damaged item and very easy to get the microwave door opening again on my machine The button is held into place by the side retaining clips which have to be pulled in slightly each side so that the whole button then slides out of the front of the machine You can do this by removing the microwave outer cover and forcing the clips in to slide the button out. I did remove the cover to discover what the problem was but found I had to remove several other items to reach the damaged part. Once I had the new part it was easy to see where the retaining clips were. I found it much easier to carefully drill a large hole through the front of the old button and using a hook made from a paper clip pull over the retaining clips enough to release the whole item. After making sure the area is dust free the new button along with the old spring just pushes back into its holder and "snaps" into position. Sounds scarey but is very straight foreward if care is taken.

On many Panasonic microwaves the door consists of a metal frame, a plastic outer door skin which is screwed or clipped onto the frame. And a inner door 'choke' which pushes into place covering the mounting screws for the outer skin. To remove the choke you have to carefully prise this out without breaking the mounting clips. For an example of the choke clips see the second image on Stock Number: ES143964.

This button is held in place by the 'claws' on either side catching the ends of slots either side of the front panel. To remove just push the ends of the tabs to allow them to clear the slots.
