If your dishwasher is leaking from the front, it's almost certain that a damaged or perished door seal is to blame.
If you need to replace the upper door seal but are unsure where to start, there’s no need to panic. We’ll talk you through how to successfully replace the upper door gasket without damaging your dishwasher.
If you find that it is the lower door seal that is the problem then this is actually harder to replace, because you need to remove the door to do it - but there is another video that you can view to assist you for this: How To Replace The Lower Dishwasher Door Seal
This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the upper door seal on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.
What You Will Need:
Step 1 - Safety Advice
Safety First! Please make sure that you have switched your appliance off at the mains before starting your repair.
Step 2 - Remove The Old Seal
Removing the old seal is simple, all you need to do is literally pull out the existing gasket - you should have no problem, as it should easily pull away from the door.
Step 3 - Fit The New Seal
Now once the old seal is out you can begin to fit the new seal. The seal only goes in one way round, so ensure you have it the right way round.
Find the centre of the seal and place this at the top centre of the cavity and you can then carefully begin to feed it in the slot in the dishwasher.
Step 4 - Remove Excess Rubber (If Required)
Remember to leave at least 2cm either side of the seal, but if you have too much excess rubber left over then don’t worry - because it can be easily cut away with a knife or pair of scissors.
Congratulations - you have now successfully been able to replace your dishwasher upper door seal! You can now get back to being able to have the dishwasher do all the hard work, rather than you cleaning by hand!
