How to Replace the Shock Absorbers on a Samsung ecobubble Washing Machine

If your Samsung ecobubble washing machine is making a loud banging noise during cycles, it means the shock absorbers are faulty and need to be replaced. This is because shock absorbers (also known as washing machine suspension legs or washing machine dampers) help to keep the drum steady, therefore faulty shock absorbers will result in the drum being unstable and banging around when spinning. Fortunately, this is a fix you can carry out at home for yourself, so read on to learn how to replace the shock absorbers on a Samsung ecobubble washing machine step-by-step!

Finding your model number

When buying new shock absorbers, you'll first need to know your appliance's model number to make sure your buy the right part for your particular make and model of appliance. How to replace the shock absorbers on a Samsung ecobubble washing machine

Safety first

Remember, safety first! Always make sure an appliance is switched off and unplugged from the mains before carrying out any work.

Step 1: Access the shock absorbers

To access and remove the old shock absorbers, you'll first need to carefully place your washing machine onto its right-hand side (when facing the front). You may need help from a second person when doing this. Then, using your Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the screws that hold the baseplate onto the bottom of the machine.

Step 2: Remove the old shock absorbers

With the baseplate removed, you will be able to see and access the shock absorbers. There will be two shock absorbers; one at the bottom...

And another one at the top.

To remove a shock absorber, you will need to use your 13mm spanner to remove the bolt that holds the shock absorber in place at the cabinet.

Then you will need to use your 10mm socket to remove the bolt that holds the shock absorber in place on the drum.

With the bolts removed, you will be able to pull the shock absorber out of the machine. You can repeat this process to remove the second shock absorber too.

Step 3: Fit the new shock absorbers

To fit a new shock absorber, place the drum end firmly onto its peg and position the cabinet end in place too.

You can then use your 10mm socket to refit the 10mm bolt onto the drum peg, securing that end of the shock absorber in place.

Then use your 13mm socket to refit the 13mm bolt onto the cabinet end of the shock absorber. Again, you can repeat this process to fit the second shock absorber too.

Step 4: Refit the baseplate

With both shock absorbers fitted, you can now finish this replacement by refitting the baseplate. Simply screw the baseplate back into place with the screws you removed earlier, using your Phillips screwdriver to do so.
