The main function of the belt on your vacuum is to rotate the agitator brush bar, so that it proceeds to lift up the dirt and dust from out of your carpet. Over time the belt on your vacuum can become worn, or even snap in some instances, and as a result your agitator brush bar will not be effective.
It is recommended that you replace the belt every 4-6 months, as over this period of time they can become easily stretched.
Once you have changed the belt you could be back to getting the house clean again in no time!
