  i read many reviews about how hard it was to replace the belt without the tool, but i didnt buy the tool i removed the top and i removed the side on the left hand side as u look at the front of the machinethen i lay the machine on its right hand side on a towelthen i put the belt in very hot water for 10 minutes, and i rubed some talcum powder all over the drum, when i got the belt dry i fitted it from the front of the drum by gently pulling the front including the door forwrds just enough to get the belt over the front of the drum via the space betwween the doorfront and the front edge of the drumit slipped on easily and i put it on the wear mark the previous belt had made shiney,with the machine still laying on its right hand side i got a 24 inch piece of flexible clear nylon water or fuel pipe and i fed it through some holes in the bottom plate of the machine level with the electric motors belt spindleand through the belt and back of another of the holes i tied a knot in one end of the pipe so it could not be pulled back through its hole and then i pulled the other end hard until i could see it was level with the end of the spindle and i reached in and pushed it over the spindle, removed the pipe from the knot end and re-fitted all the sides it took me 3 minutes once i had the pipe through the belt , plus the re-assebly time of the carcass, good luck by the way i wiped off the talcum powder before closing the carcass

  Great quality part but a swine to fit, can be done without the special tool but you have to pre-streatch the belt, loosen the motor and drum from there mounts and do some swearing.

  Worth the trouble 10 February 2009

  Belt snapped 2 days out of warranty. 99 quid for Hotpoint to replace, so ordered replacement from e-spares. Read reviews of product, and found top tip was to use old belt to pull new one over motor spindle. Bit of a strain, but made it without damaging belt which might have happened using lever.

  Anxious when ordering as original had only 7 ribs and no length was specified but belt is fine. Quality looks good but only time will tell.

  This belt is just the job but you do need to have the right tools to stretch it over the motor, it's definately not easy. I used a small crow bar!!

  The belt is good please read on 28 December 2008

  Massive diameter drum driven by a small diameter motor spindle,The tighter the better within reason. Basicaly the belt is hard to fit over the motor spindle. No probs guys it works, does the job,But the stretch belt puts a lot of extra strain on the rear bearing and the front felt bearing seal therfore causing premature wear of bearings and with the added load of clothing ,there under pressure,Certainly the bearings on the Hotpoint Aquarius TDL31P drier are not happy with this extra strain. So the next time you hear strange noises from the drier be prepared for bearing changes.

  A quality part. a little difficult to fit as the belt only just seems to fit around the drum without even considering the motor, however gentle persuasion sorted it eventually
