Worth the trouble 10 February 2009

Belt snapped 2 days out of warranty. 99 quid for Hotpoint to replace, so ordered replacement from e-spares. Read reviews of product, and found top tip was to use old belt to pull new one over motor spindle. Bit of a strain, but made it without damaging belt which might have happened using lever.

Different from original but don't worry 04 February 2009

Anxious when ordering as original had only 7 ribs and no length was specified but belt is fine. Quality looks good but only time will tell.

Stretch to fit!! 26 January 2009

This belt is just the job but you do need to have the right tools to stretch it over the motor, it's definately not easy. I used a small crow bar!!

    tight fit 22 January 2009

belt is wider than original which is a plus. being a tight fit its a bit difficult to fit over spindle of motor. TIP. when you have new belt in place use old belt to wrap round new belt, thread the ends of the old belt through the slots in the dryer base and pull new belt onto spindle.

The belt is good please read on 28 December 2008

Massive diameter drum driven by a small diameter motor spindle,The tighter the better within reason. Basicaly the belt is hard to fit over the motor spindle. No probs guys it works, does the job,But the stretch belt puts a lot of extra strain on the rear bearing and the front felt bearing seal therfore causing premature wear of bearings and with the added load of clothing ,there under pressure,Certainly the bearings on the Hotpoint Aquarius TDL31P drier are not happy with this extra strain. So the next time you hear strange noises from the drier be prepared for bearing changes.

Finding the right replacement belt for my tumble drier was easy. Fitting it round the motor and drum was incredibly tough.

Getting the Dryer working 26 December 2008

My wife has a habit of overloading our tumble dryer so I have to replace frequent belt drives....they last a max of 12 months in our house! Anyway, I came back to espares as previous service had been great and i was not let down this time. These belts are a bit fiddly to replace but having done a few I have got the job down to around 45 mins, with most of this time spent removing the screws from the 1 side panel. The new belts are tight to get over the spindle but I have found a way using the flat handle of an adjustable spanner and just leavering the belt over the spindle...easy job. I should get a job lot of these to last me the next few years!
