    A good buy 12 April 2013

This was exactly what I wanted in terms if a new belt, however the tricky bit was fitting it. My initial reaction was that it had to be the wrong belt as it only just fitted over the drum and there appeared to be no way it was going over the adjacent drive spindle as well. However, after a great deal of stretching and distortion of the dryer casing itself, it eventually slipped on. Be prepared for bruised knuckles and bad language before you start.

    Exactly what I wanted. 05 April 2013

This drive belt for my spin drier was a direct replacement for the original which had lasted 5 years. It is difficult at the moment to give a rating, ask me in 5 years time. I found an easy way to get the belt in position, by threading th old belt through some ventilation holes in the base, around the new belt and back out of the base. Then with the machine on its side and my feet against the base, a decent pull allowed my wife to slip it onto the motor spindle. Easy.

Quick efficient delivery on 2nd replacement belt in a year 30 August 2012

Good service from eSpares with confirmation and notifications. Delivey next day was essential with tracking for peace of mind. No problems there. Fitting it yourself though is really tough as there is so little play in the belt. Also, this is now the second replacement belt. May be more down to poor design of the dryer than any issue with the belt though.

tumble dryer belt 30 July 2012

Fitting was a bit of a nightmare, as the force needed to stretch it over the motor shaft was far greater than possible in the limited access. A hint on the website to use the old belt as a puller gave me the idea of looping this over the new belt then threading it through slots on the bottom of the case, knotting it to form a loop, then using a case bar to apply the tension. Alternatively, the special tools available on the website might be a good investment.

Hardest part of the job 18 July 2012

Matts video was very explicit in terms of replacing the drum shaft and bearing and pads on my Hotpoint tumble drier, with good tips about taking a photo of the electrical connections to ensure replacing correctly. When it came to fitting the new belt, however, without a spring tensioner on my model, Matt had glossed over how to do this and I could see why! Simply using the old belt to pull and stretch the new one over the drive shaft was never going to work; it was miles off. In the end I managed by moving the drum as close as possible to the motor and then fitting the belt and using the drum as the lever to tension the belt as I repositioned it. More tips please Matt!

Extended the tumble driers useful life 28 May 2012

Belt feels good quality, better than the original from in the drier. Fitting it was a bit of a marathon. In the end the best approach for the Hotpoint VTD00 appears to be: - Unplug it. - Remove the top. - Remove the right hand panel (viewed from the front) This requires the top plastic control panel to be unscrewed (wires can remain connected) and the bottom plastic panel (simply unclips) - Place the drier on its back. - Loosen front panel (with door) from the left panel and base, and unclip it from the front of the drum. - Use this opportunity to clean all the fluff off the wadding seal and plastic bearings at the front. That's probably what helped break the old belt. - You can now remove the remains of the old belt and, after stretching it as much as you dare, fit the new belt. - Make sure the new belt is lined up around the drum and over the grooved drive pin on the motor. - Pull the drum away from the motor to tension the belt and clip the front panel back onto the drum and the base of the drier (That is the tricky bit). - Now the rest is "a reversal of the removal procedure" as the DIY car manuals like to say.
