  Poor to have main drum bearing (bush) wear out so soon! 11 October 2013

  My Hotpoint tumble dryer started making a terrible noise. On investigation, I found it was the drum bearing....if you can call it a bearing. It's clearly a cheap bushing! It wore out in under 1.5yrs and Hotpoint tried to charge a lot for repair! I sorted myself thanks to espares, and it's a genuine part - again Hotpoint tried to charge 3 times as much for this part! Part fitted in under 10mins (from the rear) - 3 screws and a pin, that's all. I think it is terrible that manufacturers (not just Hotpoint) produce appliances with poor quality parts. It's as if they want them to fail so the consumer get's stung for repair or replacement. My old dryer lasted for over 12 years without issues. It was only a cheap Servis too! Rating 2 stars - both go to eSpares for price. But overall poor quality item it the first place. I expect to be buying another one in the not too distant future!
