  not really fit for purpose 06 January 2014

  the pins used to keep the extendable part of the shelf in place are not particularly good. tends not to hold in place and therefore when pulling the shelf out slightly to get to the cooking trays the shelf may start to slip out of its holdings. Could be extremely dangerous. I give it a low quality rating and also a low value rating as despite the product being cheap in monetary terms if the product is so low quality then the value by definition is poor too

  not my best purchace ever 30 January 2013

  Shelf looed good extended well to fit oven but was not deep enough. First time used article to be cooked fell off the back of shelf onto gas burner so have binned the shelf

  Unsuitable for Major Ovens 04 January 2013

  This is the second one of these I have had and find them totally unsuitable for main ovens. They are not secure enough and, frankly, are dangerous as they tend to slip and fall out when pulling the tray out. First one fell apart in the wash. This is no reflection on espares as I have ordered much from them and have been happy.

  Worries About Collapse 18 January 2012

  We shall not be using this due to worries about collapse. The little metal springs fall out as you adjust the shelf and do not hold the adjusted shelf in a fixed position. No problems with price and would pay more for a better product.

  Expanding Oven shelf 13 October 2011

  I must have a large oven. I fitted the shelf and placed a lightweight dish on it to start cooking. Within 10 minutes the shelf had parted and the dish fell onto the dish underneath. Item binned.

  Cheap and Nasty 12 May 2011

  I think it's rubbish. I wanted a quality item and I got something to put in the recycling. I want a shelf that fits properly - not sliding in and out all the time, and when you adjust it the clips fall out. It's cheap and nasty.

  Oven Shelf 04 April 2011

  Not the best product I've had from eSpares. Rather stiff to get it pulled out to the right size for the oven and one of the small metal"fixings" fell out and when I placed in back in the product it just disappeared down the hollow space. So as I say not the best product I've ever bought from you but not the most expensive either but if I'd wanted to get an originalSmeg shelf it would have cost me £47 odd pounds.Still as it sitting in the oven and doing its job it's ok, how it will hold up when washed is a different story

  This oven shelf was poorly designed because when it was extended the small black metal sheaves that hold the extended rods came out of the tube and were difficult to get back in.

  Flimsy and insubstantial 12 October 2010

  Sadly. I found this product disappointing. My own oven shelves are a heavy metal and and this shelf is not. Although it would stretch to fit the oven(a difficult job as it were stiff and the extension bits came coming out when I pulled them), it would not hold firm at the back of the oven. The brackets my oven shelves slide on to are only at the front and do not extend right to the back. This is not a problem for my existing shelves, but it was for the espares shelf. So although the shelf fit in theory as the measurements were ok, it did not fit in practice because it was too flimsy. I have had to rest it on a solid tray at the base of the oven when I need to use an extra shelf. In my opinion it is not a 'Universal Shelf, although it might be fine for some ovens with the right shelf holding brackets.
