Best way to fit 05 April 2019

To refit the part - Rather than heat the handle which expands it, put it in the freezer. Put the narrow end (the top) of the filter part in very hot water which expands it. (not the other way around). The the filter does not need to be in place IN the dishwasher as it makes it harder to put pressure on the parts to snap them together. Take your hot filter part and stand it up on a flat surface, put the flat metal mesh over it (it should balance on top) then your cold handle part pops in very easily if it is lined up correctly. Hope this helps. I had no luck by heating the handle and trying to push it down inside the dishwasher as per suggestion below.

STOP : this is how to fit it! 15 June 2016

I'm an aircraft engineer of 27 years and it had me stumped until I read some of the reviews below. First remove the old filter as best you can, screwdriver working it off is best. Fill a sink with really hot water and put JUST the handle side in to soften it slightly. Install the filter into the recess of the dishwasher with the key way notch at the 4 o clock position, as you look into the dishwasher. It should sit down and fit really well. Rotate the filter in position clockwise, until about the 5 o clock position. This should then lock it in its final fitment position. Place the mesh in position over the filter, so it is snuggly over the filter. Take the handle from he hot water, try to align the key way and press down real firmly. The handle should then snap into place, sometimes with a couple of clicks. Done. Hope this helps. Luckily, my old micro filter lasted twenty years, so this one will probably outlast the dishwasher.

Great service, overpriced part, tricky to fit. 30 December 2015

Great service from espares. Found the right part pretty easily and delivery was very prompt. However, as others have pointed out, the filter seems very expensive for what is simply plastic and some fine mesh. And it was not easy to fit. Thanks so much to the other reviewers for their advice. It was relatively easy to get the old filter off but I struggled for a while to fit the new one back on. Eventually I resorted to chilling one part (the handle seemed the best one) and heating the filter in very hot water. This worked well in the end. So: great service, overpriced part, very tricky to fit but got there in the end.

Take your time fitting 15 December 2015

Lovely service, and a very reasonably priced spare part. Husband and I read all the previous comments about fitting- in the end using one part chilled in the freezer, and the other heated in hot water worked for us. Snapped on eventually, but you do need to apply pressure.

This product works well once fitted but should come with full instructions on how to firstly get the old one out then how to fit the new one without breaking it !!!

Very difficult to fit 29 March 2015

This is a good quality (original Miele) filter to replace the previous filter, but it was extremely difficult to fit. The filter is intended to 'snap' into place, (i.e. doesn't screw in) but it just wouldn't snap on and I ended up bending it. I refitted the original filter several times to discover exactly how this one should go on in case I was misaligning anything. I also aligned both filters with each other to see if I was attempting to fit a wrong type of filter. However, both the the old filter and this new one are exactly the same. It turned out that I wasn't getting it wrong. It just needed two people - my wife to hold the filter tray and handle combination - while I attempted to 'snap' the new filter into place. In the end it went on, but not before I had bent the filter 'basket' significantly and damaged it in the process. I imagine Miele service engineers have some sort of tool to do this job. It's a shame the eSpares YouTube videos don't show an engineer demonstrating how to fit a Miele dishwasher filter. If they did, I reckon the engineer would probably tell you not to do it!

Excellent customer service; part quality a little disapppointing 12 February 2014

Having read other reviews I was prepared for a struggle fitting this part but eventually managed without too many problems. I found the easiest way to fit the new one was actually to do while it was in situ in the dishwasher as the base of the filter was then supported when the handle was pressed into place. For the price of this replacement part I am slightly disappointed by the quality of what is a genuine original Miele (i.e. not a copy) - I suspect it will break again as the hinge holding the base is made of very thin plastic and is likely to break (which is what happened to the original). I cannot fault eSpares on their customer service however - thanks

Good product BUT Hard to fit 31 October 2013

Essential purchase to replace old one in dishwasher. Fast delivery, product in stock - great. Then the fun of fitting.....no instructions and it wasn't obvious. After some experimentation I warmed one part and chilled the other and the two just push together. Not a simple DIY fix. However all done now and cheaper than calling out an engineer.

Expensive, fiddly, but works 17 July 2013

... thanks to the expertise of the reviewers above, I managed this in a few anxious minutes. The trick of using a flat screwdriver to prize the handle and filter apart, working gradually around in a circle, worked pretty easily. I found snapping it back together much harder, and it felt that at any moment the rather flimsy 50 quid piece of plastic would buckle and snap, but it finally worked. Miele; it's a bit rubbish for the price, but I can't fault our now nine-years-old dishwasher in any other respect. And thanks to espares, the correct part arrived in one day, as promised.
