30 min puzzle, one minute job 12 June 2009
For some time the lid had been partially popping off the guides during the detergent release cycle. Then one day it popped off completely - I found the spring and the lid in the bottom of the dishwasher. On the assumption that I would have to spend £150 getting a repairman with complete new soapdish assembly, we manually added the soap tablet after the 15 minutes rinse cycle. This went on for two years! Until, on browsing Epares and the very helpful reviews I saw that the soapdish lid and the spring could be bought as spares. Fitting the lid and the spring requires 30 minutes working it out time and one minute fitting time. There is only one way the spring can fit but it is quite a challenge to select the right way from the multiple choice. When you have done this, press on the soapdish end of the spring - it squeezes on over the soft plastic. Then offer the lid/spring assembly to the dish and pop the other end of the spring into place. Then you have to spreadeagle the sides of the lid a bit to force the lid guide spigots over a lip and into their guide grooves. It's a one minute job but allocate an undisturbed 30 minutes because the spring is a bit of a brain-teaser and the lid, too, until you realize that it has to be forced into place. Delivery was a week or so longer than quoted at time of purchase.
