  Hotpoint door seal 17 June 2011

  The part was a little tricky to fit on my hotpoint model,not like in the video, due to the front panel was not of the type you could remove. Stripping down the washer was very easy but on the rebuild you need to be assisted with another pair of hands, to help pull the spring like seal retainer band around the drum front.

  Well worth watching the video a couple of times before fitting the seal.It was quite hard getting the first spring on, I got my husband to hold it while I stretched the spring on.The outer spring was easy. The new seal is better quality than the original one. It took about one hour to fix,not bad for a retired granny!

  I had a build up of mildew on the rubber ring inside my hotpoint HVL241 washer. Contacted Hotpoint who advised an engineer would need to attend, and replace the ring, at a cost of £130. So finding this part at around £35, was an absolute bargain! Granted, it is NOT easy to fit, and requires two people with small hands to fit. But I did find that as long as you sit the inside of the rubber ring to the small ledge on the washing machine first, and then gradually sit and feed the spring retainer, it is possible! I am not a DIY expert, and have never done this before, and would urge you all to give it a go first, and be patient when fitting it.

  I was amazed at the quality of the goods received indeed the seal seemed much better than the original it replaced. Fitting whilst being a little fiddly should not put anyone off trying, follow the instructions and very little can go wrong. Overall 100% for everything

  Our door seal had gone really mouldy and there was no way to get it clean. Purchased this door seal after looking at youtube.com and finding how to change the seal. It turned out to be a lot simpler than we thought and only took 10 mins.
