Troublesome tumble dryer 29 October 2014

I can't really fault the new belt. The tumble dryer however is another thing! Originally, the motor would run but the drum would not turn without a shove,( with the top removed). The new belt was, (as advised by yourselves), very very tight, and difficult to fit even with the rear bearing and back panel removed. After re-assembly, the drum would still not turn without a shove, but this time the motor would not run at all without assistance. This leads me to believe that maybe the motor or the start capacitor are at fault. Needs further investigation methinks! Any suggestions espares?

This is a very common problem. As the dryer ages the capacitor often fails giving low torque and intermittent starting. If it stalls the motor can get hot enough to burn the belt and it can also cause the thermostats on the heater to trip out.

Not so easy to fit 16 May 2014

Stripped down the tumble dryer. Fitted the drive belt around the motor. The difficult part was actually getting the belt on the drum. I read reviews saying take off the motor first but I could eventually get the belt on by placing it over the front-side of the drum (for some reason doing it on the rear-side was just not happening for me..). This way I did not have to remove the motor. It was a 2 person job.

God product but an easy fit 31 March 2014

the belt appears to be smaller than required to fit over the pulley on the tumble dryer I have (IS70C). if you stretch the belt by pulling after fitting over the drum then it will give enough to fit over the pulley; so persevere.

Belt is Perfect = But Fitting is Hard Work 24 February 2014

Bought this for my Hotpoint Aquarius CTD00 Tumble Dryer and it arrived as usual in no time at all and exactly as described. Fitting was a challenge - I've replaced a tensioner wheel before, but the belt was harder. There was an excellent step by step video on YouTube, but there are two difficult steps - one is getting the bolts on and off the engine mounting (make sure you have the right tools = i.e. socket set) and it needs a good deal of strength to get the new belt back onto the tensioner wheel.

Not so easy to fit 05 November 2013

Although I consider myself capable, being an ex-engineer, I had great difficulty in fitting the belt. Not because the belt was in any way defective, it's not. It's a good quality item. But purely due to the amount of the machine needed to be taken apart to get the belt fitted and the effort required to get it on the jockey pulley. It would have been useful to have a sheet included with the item to show the steps required for replacement and an indication of where you might get a purchase point to aid getting the belt over the jockey pulley. There was quite a lot of trial and error on my part before I succeeded in getting the belt completely fitted.

    Hotpoint TCD980 HELL 21 October 2013

The belt was good but ease of fitting must depend on your model of dryer. Hotpoint in their wisdom didn't give the TCD980 Ultimate a sprung tension pulley!!! Like a previous writer you'll find it hard enough to get the belt in position on the jockey wheel with it's rear bracket bolt out. I don't want to call it a tensioner as it is a fixed bracket. I used my multitool i.e. Leatherman with handle folded (2 inch lump of metal) and used it as a lever between the motor shaft and jockey wheel to lift the bracket whilst praying in agony that the rear bolt hole was aligned and then with my third hand inserted the bracket bolt. Good luck in taking this one on. May the Force be with you!

Overall very happy. 08 October 2013

Parts were of the highest quality and shipped as promised. But I found it very difficult to fit. Trying to get the new belt around the drum and pulley was hard to say the least. Ok probs easy for professional who knows what he's doing but for me it was a challenge but got there in the end. A amateur page with a description on how to tackle this job and other jobs would be handy. For anyone reading this doing the same job ill tell you what I did...... Loosened the pulley right off and took the bolt closest to the drum completely out allowing the pulley to swing down. I got the belt in position and by hand pulled the pulley up to sit in the recess and then levered the pulley back up with a extra long screw driver until the bolt holes lined up and got the last bolt in and tighten quickly.
