  keeps vintage Hoover turning 30 July 2017

  No one could claim it was easy to wrestle these into position, but that's down to the design of the vacuum cleaner, which majors on robustness and reliability, which is why the cleaner still works very efficiently after 45 years. I am new to these old upright Hoovers so did not realise how easy it is to damage the drive belts. After 30 minutes' use the first is almost cut through. It seems this is because one cannot use these machines to clean rugs: the edges pull up, stick in the beater mechanism and put too much strain on the belt. Now I know why there are two belts in each bag!

  At last the correct product. 04 December 2010

  After buying several agitiator belts for my Hoover 638 Vacuum Cleaner in Australia where I live, it took espares to send the correct belt that fitted perfectly and it worked out cheaper than the ones I bought here, and it now goes like a new machine even though it is 55 years old!
