  REPLACEMENT DOOR SEAL MIELE W844 23 May 2020

  Bought to replace leaking seal on our 19 year old machine. Nuisance relatively small leak on full load wash. Could find no leaks on test with empty drum. No tears or splits found just a tired and probably worn seal. Thanks to those previous reviews I managed this changeout with relative ease having a hands on engineering background. I would add the following. On this model I had to pull the machine out about 6 inches to gain access to two screws securing the top cover. Remove the screws beneath plastic covers and slide top cover back. The top was preventing the front opening. Remove three Torx screws size T20 required. Remove three bolts, 10mm socket or spanner. Release the wire clamp. 8mm socket and extension required. Remove the old door seal and clean the soap any any crud’s from the seal mounting surfaces. Replace the seal. I dipped and covered mine in soapy water as a lubricant to aid installation. Assemble wire clip, front cover and top cover. Tested successfully on a full load.

  Miele making life easy after 20 years 05 July 2018

  Cheap "nock off" versions are available but as the original has lasted 19 years I figured it was worth the extra. Drain filter, remove soap drawer, undo 3 screws (behind soap drawer), and 3 bolts in front, release a clip at the base and swing open whole front of machine. Undo clamp screw while watching through convenient opening. Pull off old filter,. I cleaned off some old rubber from the old seal that had adhered to the drum with a "scrubby" and slipped on new seal. Reverse everything, ... Total time 30 minutes and didn't even have to lay down of floor or lift or tip machine or even pull it out of its position. Basically the machine is so well made it looks like new after nearly 20 years.

  Good but expensive 06 February 2017

  A friend was fitting this rather than me because the YouTube videos etc suggested it was a bit trickier than most and he used to do washing machines. I bought the Miele product, rather than the very much cheaper option - thought it would be unfair to make the job potentially more difficult. It was OK to fit, but more of a fiddle than most. nb The item was a close fit in a thin cardboard box, well sealed with tape. Fine - except if I had cut the tape with a Stanley knife and been too vigorous I would have damaged the seal.

  Miele - good quality product (new door seal) 23 September 2010

  As expected a quality product from Miele. Price was reasonable. Regarding fitting, I'm DIY and found a 14 step directions procedure on internet. Tools are normal for advanced DIY, note requirement for a small 7 mm (or was it 6mm) socket 1/4 inch with long + short extension (used together) to access the retaining wire band bolt (use of slot screwdriver not recommended). Also require a torx bit size approx 3mm. (also need 10mm socket and screwdrivers). Allow some time for the job and be patient. Check you have the above tools (one would be sunk without), then go for it. Espares delivery was quick.
