  Made a massive saving 05 December 2016

  We identified the heating element as the problem on a Saturday afternoon, by 5pm on Monday the washer was back up and running with a new part delivered from eSpares. Local companies were quoting a week from the callout to getting the part fitted - and the callout cost alone (never mind the actual repair!) was more than the part cost + delivery from eSpares. The videos were really helpful when fitting the new part - it seemed obvious but always handy to have something to follow to make sure you don't miss anything.

  Good replacement heater 14 October 2014

  Element bought as replacement for Bosch 28160GB04. Easy install from front of the machine once top, facia panel and front panel had been removed - see espares video. Unit was fitted rotated 180 deg. from original to get spade terminals facing downwards as before. Outer tag lead connections also reversed to get Blue lead on Blue tag & Green lead on Green tag. Note that the securing nut is smaller than the 10mm shown on video. I used small ring spanner.

  Bosch WAA28168GB/29 22 March 2014

  The WAA28168GB/29 is the same as the WAA28168GB/32 so parts are interchangeable. The heater fits in the BACK not the front as on other Bosch washing machines. This only requires removal of one screw, NOT the front. It is easier if you remove the top, as you have to tilt the drum to remove and fit the heater element, but not entirely necessary. The old heater was covered in a greyish gooey muck which is why it blew, presumably because of overheating. It is a VERY good idea to run a cleaning cycle at 90C without clothes every now and then to ensure this doesn't happen. Leaving the soap drawer open after a wash will stop mould forming so is highly recommended
