    Fitting issue 30 January 2016

I have used this filter on at least 4 occasions previously. The filter fittement changed to a push in & lock system which simplified the fitting, however the cable ties provided are not long enough for the diameter of the filter body & wall figment, luckily I have longer cable ties. Please could you supply longer cable ties, this may seem a minor complaint but suggests unnecessary penny pinching.

    Worked well 13 December 2012

Prior to ordering this filter, I had bought another , British made, replacement filter, for a couple of quid cheaper. But beware ! The charcoal broke out of the filter and passed into the fridge piping, nearly killed it! Replaced with this filter, five months ago, amber just came on , so I am buying this one again, E spares is the way to go.

Not completely happy 10 October 2012

In the end this was really easy to fit but the instructions were for a different model which caused some confusion and difficulties. Eventually we worked it out but correct and up-to-date instruction would have helped. It is now working brilliantly - bit expensive though.

    Bought for GE GCG21S 23 July 2011

The original filter was a GXRTQ. This one is a GXRTQR. Both are listed on the GE installation instructions. The filter is physically the same as the original. The inlet and outlet fittings are different but this is not a problem. There appears to be two ways of fitting the filter. 1. Take off the original fittings to the water line, inlet and outlet, and follow the instructions that come with the new filter. This consists of just pushing the plastic water line into the new filter at both ends. There is a rubber washer in each end piece to give a compression seal. 2. This is how I did it. After removing the original snap on connectors (and putting them on the correct lines - which our wonderful plumber failed to do), unscrew the end connectors from the original GE filter. Remove the end connectors from the new filter and replace with the original connectors from the GE filter. The internal size and threads are the same. Connect the inlet and flush through. The GE instructions advise flushing through for five minutes. The instructions with the new filter advises until the water is clear. It took about 20 seconds. Clip on the outlet and that is it. This filter comes with two "adhesives" (the instructions say 6?)- small plastic squares to stick on the fridge. There are two plastic electrical ties that pass through these to secure the filter to them. Unfortunately, the clips are not long enough to go around the filter! All in all quite a simple job. It took longer to clean the floor and walls once the fridge/freezer had been pulled out. This is the first time the filter had been replaced since installation some five years ago. One of those jobs that never seemed to get done and the water kept coming out fine. I cannot imagine anyone doing this every six months? I will say, and I had the wife and kids confirm it, the water taste (if you can call it that) after fitting the filter was remarkably different and much, much better (Surprise! Surprise!).

What can you say about a filter 06 July 2011

Well water goes in one end and some, hopefully different, water comes out the other. I can confirm it fits OK on my Samsung RS21DCSV American style fridge freezer. The design seems to have improved over the previous type I bought in that you no longer need to do up a nut - just shove the pipe into the hole and magically no leaks.
