As this is a condenser dryer it suggests if there is heat present when you try it that the problem is related to the pump not emptying the reservoir into the water container. Answer this question

The heater element has failed, both sensors on the heater casing are ok. Is there anything else that could be wrong or require checking as the machine is not yet two years old

It is important to allow tumble driers to complete there cycle as many will run a cool down cycle to remove the heat from the element. If stopped early this can cause the element to overheat and fail. Check the condenser if fitted is not blocked with fluff as this too can cause overheating and failure.

If you gently tug the wires as they pass into the cabinet you may see a small plastic peg passing through the back move. If you release this peg by gently squeezing it with pliers and pushing through you will have enough cable to carefully pull through the whole and reach the connectors. Refit these connectors to the new heater and refit the heater. Then remove top fascia and front as previously described to reach through and refit cable grip to cabinet to prevent cable damage by drum.

To remove the drum you have to take off the top panel, the control panel and the front panel. Then remove the front drum support frame by removing the four screws and lifting 10mm and hinging out from the bottom. Reach under the drum and flip the belt off the tensioner pulleys, then you can remove the rear duct and screws that fix the bearing plate to the cabinet rear. Once all that is done the whole drum and bearing assembly can pass through the cabinet front.

how many ohms should the resistance of the heater element be on the Hoover 2100 Watt Tumble Dryer Heat Element for VHC381/1-80? thanks

The resistance of an element producing 2100 watts of heat from 230 volts should be around 25 ohms. Note as most driers have high and low heat settings it is normal to have to elements that are in parallel to produce this resistance. individually they will read approximately double this figure.

Safety first disconnect the electricity before starting the repair. To fit this heater there is a grommet that the connections pass into the machine. remove this gromit and release the cable grip barb near the hole to allow the wires and connectors to be drawn through the hole. Swap the connections over one at a time to the new heater and mount onto the rear panel. To refit the cable clip back to prevent wires from catching the drum you may have to remove the top and front and reach through to the back panel (not easy).

It is likely the appliance is identifying a problem and switching off. By the sound of it I would suspect a heat problem and would check if you can feel any warmth in the drum when it stops.

The cables for the heater are attached to the back wall of the dryer to prevent them catching the drum. You may have to take the drum assembly out to access them correctly.
