Candy GOC58F replacement heater element

By Terence - Staines - 04 April 2015
  • Actually there is a much simpler way to do this and it saves time too! It means just take off back panel over heater then carefully thread some strong sewing thread through the sides of the plastic rivet. Make sure you have strong thread and make loops about 20cm long. Then when you gently remove the plastic rivet the thread stays attched. Pull the connectors though and change one by one as before. Now carefully move the cotten loops to the new plastic rivet and gently pull on the loops. as you guide the cable back in. The thread will guide the rivet back into place and pull firmly to secure the rivet. Reassemble as before. Job done!!!! By jon m - cumbria. - 13 November 2016

You will need to remove the following, Lid, control panel, lower front, door and seal, fan grill, fan, fan cover. Then reach through from the front to locate the clip. We have just videoed this repair and will have this in our advice centre and Youtube shortly.

You will need to test the element with a multimeter to confirm if it has failed.

If when freshly plugged in the light changes when you first press the button then the control panel recognises the press. If this is the case check the door lock.

Hi my Hoover VHC681B was operating but didn't heat up then stopped with all warning lights flashing which indicated that I needed to change the heating element C/W thermostats, I ordered the replacement heater from you and installed it after also giving the drier a good clean (condenser element etc.) The new heater worked no problem but now less that a week later I have the same problem. Am I just unlucky enough to have a faulty heater element or is it something else, how do I test the heater element?

Switching straight off stopping the circulation fan immediately when the element is heating can cause overheating and damage the element as the circulating air stops. Always allow the appliance to finish a cycle or select 'cool down' or 'cool cycle' to remove heat around the element before stopping.

Unfortunately to do this it is necessary to dismantle and remove the drum to access the connections on your model.

Answer this question

The instructions tell me to "clean the filter" !!! This has been done many times but still no heat. I have been told that it is possibly the heater element. Is there anyway of testing the old element just to make sure?
