Is this product used INSTEAD of the rubber strip-seal (gasket?), or is it simply used as an adhesive to stick the rubber seal into position?

The sealant may give off a little fumes until fully cured after its first heating but if used to attach the outside glass panel it would be outside the cavity so should not taint food being cooked. We recommend you run the oven to full temperature for twenty minutes after the glue has set to clear any fumes.

If the glass is 'bonded' onto the door frame this product is suitable. There may be some smell initially after repair but we suggest you allow 24 hours to cure then run the oven for over 30 minutes to allow the smell to dissipate.

This silicone is suitable for attaching the outer door glass to the brackets but we are not sure with the inner glass. We do know there are some baking dishes made from silicone so it may clear once cured but vent well initially and remove if continuing to smoke.

Answer this question

I have a Baumatic BT2760SS cooker and the replacement small oven door seal is not available. I have a universal oven seal from e spares but it keeps coming off because one of the corner fittings has snapped (I think I cut the rubber too short and the resulting strain is too much for the metal fixing). Can I use this sealant to attach the rubber seal and fill the gaps where the corner pieces are?

This sealant is suitable for this purpose but will need time to cure and allow movement until fully 'cured'.
