Product Q&A

Ask a Question

Hi, I have an old, but fully working 411a Karcher pressure washer. The pressure hose has just developed a leak, I would like to replace this, but I cannot remove the old one. I am not entirely sure if it is possible to remove it as it will not budge - have tried WD40 etc and gently tapping, but nothing seems to move it? It is quite an old model with the water inlet on one side and the pressure hoes outlet on the other side, which does not fully match with diagrams I have seen. Would you be able to confirm if the hose is detachable - and if so suggest ways that I could do this please. Thanks

The outlet of a K411A pressure washer is Stock Number: ES538455 and the hose screws on to this part. You could try carefully cutting the hose nut off with a Dremel type tool or just use pipe grips to move the nut. If all else fails dismantle and replace the outlet and fit a new hose.

The loss of pressure is causing the motor stop function to not operate. Trace and replace the part that is causing the leak.

Any leak on the high pressure side will allow the pressure to escape and turn the machine back on. Trace and repair the leak.

Answer this question

Sounds good when you turn it on but no pressure but good flow.

There is only 'pressure' when the flow is reduced by the spray wand. If the wand is OK and it does not leak you may have to progressively work through replacing the components in the high pressure part of the pump to cure your problem.

Answer this question

I have replaced the cylinder head and cleaned out the control head hoping this would cure the problem, but it did not. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. The machine does not pulsate only has low pressure.

It is not possible to give an accurate diagnosis of this problem. It can be a leak on any seal involved with the high pressure chamber. If the machine is able to auto shut off when the trigger is released that would suggest the washer pump is working correctly. If it will not autostop then systematically replace all seals associated with the high pressure side of the pump.

  • Take off the cover and run the washer for a few seconds to identify where the leak is coming from. It's most likely the pressure washer control head housing which I've had to replace twice! Makes sense to replace the triangular cylinder head seal at the same time. Good luck. By Simon - Scotland - 10 April 2012

In the picture the outlet connection seems to be a plain spigot but on mine there is a threaded section (albeit not used) and a slot for the C clip. Does this threaded section have to be transfered to the new part or has there been a change in design. If it has to be transfered can you explaing how to get it off? Thanks Nick

Hi, I'll need the model number of your pressure washer to take a look at the differences between this control head and the one on your washer. Your best bet would be to contact our call centre on 0845 230 6 230 so they can talk you through the differences. Hope this helps.

Though we cannot give out technical advice, if you contact us with your full model details we should be able to send you a line drawing of your appliance and help identify the spring. Hopefully this link helps you find your full model details: http://www.espares.co.uk/findingmodelnumbers.aspx

  • I have had the same problem with a K4.99M. I found a hairline crack in the control head body (which I replaced - this stopped the surging), and also the nozzle in the Vario Lance was cracked (not possible to buy just the nozzle), so I bought a new lance, which cured the low pressure problem. I think that both of these problems were caused by freezing damage. By rog3141 - Basingstoke - 19 June 2010
