Hotpoint WMA63S Washing Machine --- my washing machine is covered by a service plan so I can get the drum bearings removed/ replaced but the plan does not cover the door seal. 1 Answer
I want to replace the door seal as it has become mouldy and smelly. If I purchase a new door seal, would it be an easy job for the service enginer to replace this for me when he has the washing machine apart to change the bearings? -- I would separately pay for this if he was willing to do the job for me. Replacing the bearings requires complete dismantling and therefore fitting a new seal would be a very easy job.
I have never attempted anything like this! I am on benefit due to ill health so money is short so I cannot afford an engineer. Watching the video it will take me about a week to do this job! I am concerned after reading Q&A that I may have a sealed drum so buying just bearings would be a waste of money. Can anyone advise please?

If there are no bolts around the centre of the drum you have a welded Tub and the bearings cannot be replaced. It is likely to be cheaper to have a fixed price repair with Repaircare than replace the drum unit
HI have taken the drum out of the machine, but the inner drum will not budge from the outer plastic casing would I need to heat this with a blow torch ?

Use a penetrating oil like WD40 or Plus gas and support the outer drum on wooden blocks. Then use a soft face hammer or a piece of wood between the hammer and the shaft and hit it hard to shock the shaft from the bearings.
I have a Hotpoint WM74S washing machine. I am replacing the bearings but the drum spindle is threaded and I cannot get it out of the plastic casing. In the video the spindle has no thread and just drops out. Can you help please. 1 Answer

The threaded area is for fixing the drum pulley and is not stopping the drum from being removed. Use a mallet or a soft face hammer to 'shock' the shaft and remove it.

We would recommend replacing the tub seal and not using silicone unless there is damage to the tub edge. If this is the case use any glazing or kitchen silicone that sets to a flexible rubber and does not remain soft.
