Siemens Askoll Type Washing Machine Filter Stock Number: ES486178
Genuine spare part for select Bosch and Siemens washing machines
I have Bosch logixx 7 washing machine the number on the machine is WIS24140GB, will this filter fit?? Can't unscrew the cap and have snapped the plastic with my pliers like a pratt!!! If this part isn't suitable could anyone advice what part will fit? 3 Answers
- After trying patiently to unscrew. I took the handle of large screw driver and gave it hard ram in the centre of the cap. Centre broke free, removed the metal (wasn't going anywhere) shirt collar stiffener, and was easily able to unscrew the cap then. This part is an exact match. Job done, no other parts/pipes needed removing or messing about with.
- I too did the same and I too am a 'pratt' (LOL), but may be not a typical one, I used my pliers with a sock to cushion it, only the top bit of the plastic broke. So now I had to think. Pulled the machine out, lay it almost flat resting the back on a saucepan on the floor. Now access to the filter cap was horizontal, used long nose pliers and slowly turned it anticlockwise. Bosch should think about such a situation and make the handle with not brittle Bakelite plastic but more ductile stronger plastic. Hope this helps.

This part should fit your machine.Note, the reason why the filter would not unscrew maybe due to 'hair grips' or other debris catching in the vanes of the filter. To undo the filter disconnect the pump body from the front panel and remove the inlet pipe to remove the debris.
As a determined women went to replace the filter cap on my washer and had to use pliers and yes I have snapped the plastic. There is now pretty much nothing to get leverage on to unscrew it. What can I do? Please help 2 Answers
- 2014 so you have probably solved the problem by now. But, for others fighting the same stupid design on Bosch washing machines. ......here is what I did today. I applied oil all round the outside of the white cap where it was sitting in the black filter housing. 2 men in the house had no patience, snapped the fi ger grip area of the cap with pliers so I nervously put the metal end of a screwdriver against a small lug and gently tapped the handle end to move the cap/cover in an anti clockwise direction. I had to find different places on the cap but it eventually started moving. I continued patiently and finally got it out to find a cotton bud and hair grip blocking the filter.

The filter has broken as it is likely to be blocked or jammed with coins, hair grips or other articles from your pockets. To remove this debris it will be necessary to remove the pump assembly before removing the filter. If you have removed the debris and still cannot turn it punch two holes in the filter face and use these to turn the filter. Order filter before starting or filter and housing. i have a Bosch exxcel 1600 express machine and I am having difficulty removing the filter in the lower right corner of the machine. Have you any suggestions on how this can be removed? 2 Answers
- mine was full of hairbands and stuff ... it broke when i tried to unscrew it with pliers, managed to remove it all. Would suggest you take the whole assembly off and clean out all the scale properly. Keep kids little bits and bobs from your machines. ... New one fitted in seconds, Though had to get it from Siemens as was told not stocked by e-spares.
- To remove the filter i used a set pliers and broke it and chiseled the remaining making sure you do not damage the screw in thread. The reason it is difficult to remove the filter as there is a lot of scaling built behind it. If you do break the filter you can replace it,most of the spares are sold at espares.
my filter has no turn handle like ALL the images on the internet have. it is flat with cut outs around the edge as if a filter key is required. is this the case or can I use something else to turn it?

If you have just had a new machine installed there is likely to be four plastic 'cotton reel' pieces that are used to hold the drum during transport that are removed upon installation.

Stock Number: ES976478 should fit. There is likely to be debris inside preventing removal. Take off the whole pump to clear debris and remove the filter.
