This product requires the old remote to learn the commands as it does not come programmed, it can learn most infra-red remote control signals.
Once you have set up the new remote can you still use the old one, e.g. To change settings etc? 1 Answer

There is no reason why you can’t use you old remote except at the same time as they may interfere with each other.
This is for my mum who is 90 and cannot get to grips with 2 remotes.
