Dishwasher Single Inlet Solenoid Valve
A dishwasher valve stores electricity and when it receives the appropriate signal from the dishwashers control cycle, the solenoid uses the stored power to move a lever.
This opens to let water pass or closes to keep water in. As the solenoid is an electrically-operated component, a broken or corroded wire can cause it to fail.

Here is a short video from our advice center page that gives you some information as to why your dishwasher may not be filling up with water. http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/3/1954
I am a new member with an ID T10475965. There is no water going into my SA8201X1 Smeg dishwasher and I suspect this part is faulty but I need to know at what voltage this dishwasher water valve solenoid operates as I check the voltage at its terminals and it measured only 35Vac. Can you help? thanks william

We do not have that level of information available to us but I have not personally come across any water valves on Domestic machines that have operated on lower voltage then the mains voltage supplied to the machine. Therefore I would assume this is a 240 volt valve.
