    The washable filters are usually Aluminum or Stainless steel mesh filters. Charcoal would absorb water so can not be cleaned.

    Use a carbon filter to remove smells if you are recirculating the air. This is not nessersary if you are extracting it.

the aeg 150 is a non-cleanable charcoal filter whereas the long-life version though charcoal, can be cleaned in a dishwasher then dried in the oven....which version is this a replacement for

    This is a Activated Carbon Filter and its performance would likely suffer significantly if you tried to clean it.
