Not as easy as the video suggests

This was bought specifically for a Zanussi model but there were no fitting instructions with the delivery. Scouring the eSpares and other videos gave me some idea but the job required some nimble agility. I had assumed that as a magnetic seal it did not need to be seated in a slot but this was wrong. So it took a long time to clear the slots when I worked out where it was to go. However, more caution needs to be emphasised as being too hasty with the Stanley knife can hack at the slot itself. Contrarily you need to work at trimming as much of the old seal as possible,. Easiest done when the main bit is off. I also found a need for fine tweezers (to get bits out that were stuck in the slot), and an small screwdriver to work in the corners which were tight. Also to run down the slots to clean them (wrapped in an antiseptic wipe). Seems to be OK now, but time will tell, I suspect I may need to return to adjust it over time,

    Good product

Good product and reasonably easy to fit - thought the espares video makes it look a bit easier than it is!

    Tricky to fit

The new seal was needed for the freezer door of a John Lewis fridge freezer. The most helpful advice for both the removal of the old seal & the fitting of the new one was found online. The leaflet accompanying the new seal was misleading. In the end we had to taken the doors off the unit, cut out the soft part & the magnetic strips from the old seal, fit the new one - lots of pushing & easing in needed - then reassemble the doors. Once done, the replacement seal works well.

There are two types of seal generally used type one is covered in our video: Replacing the door seal on an AEG freezer. However yours looks like the simpler type covered in our video: How to replace a fridge door seal Both these articles are available in our advice centre.
