The Classic 6 is a series and not a model. There should be a spin speed button to press when carrying out the rest procedure.

Answer this question

Just gone to open machine and found machine to have the spin button on but not flashing, washing stillwet so didnt appear to have spun but no water in machine so presume pump working but washing would usually be much drier, so premuse not spun. Tried turning machine off then 3 lights on the spin speed display bar flash and wont allow you to press any other buttons. Would this be a problem with the brushes or control panel??? If it is the brushes are the ones listed on site suitable as not sure if this model has a FHP motor?????

RE Amanda's comments. please watch the video again because it is important to realise that your machine can be unbalanced when washing one or two items on their own or with a full load. it is not so much about how full the machine is it is to do with whether the heavier items in the load can spread evenly around all the drum.

  • Hello, I can confirm it was only a half load, had done 2 previous full loads before this problem occured. The machine was only half full but in my opinion full enough to not unbalance. It drained most water but left clothes damper than norm solely as machine didnt do final spin, it was only on a quick wash, so dont believe problem lies in the pump. Hubby replaced brushes with new, its fair to say they needed doing and we were hopeful this would be the end, but the machine no has a different sequence of lights all on the spin bar. Im certain I dontwant to spend lots on this machine as almost as cheap to replace with new as call an engineer. Any suggestion or is my Bosch of to washing machine heaven. If the problem resets when switched off and you had a heavy item in the load (large towel bath matt or bath robe) the fault may have been out of balance (see:How to Prevent a Washing Machines Spinning Noisily: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/7/2401 If the machine still wont start check the brushes (see :How to replace the carbon brushes on a washing machine - Bosch http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/7/1379 )

The house dis-board RCD always trips a few minutes into a wash, except if the element is disconnected or a cold wash is selected. Must be the element. A new element worked for 2 washes but now does the same. I made up a test lead to plug the element directly into the mains, but it doesn't trip the RCD. So now it doesn't appear to be the element tripping the RCD. Any clues?

Check the front lip of the inner drum does not allow more than a mm or so movement in relation to the rest of the drum. If there is significant movement then significant bearing wear is likely.

  • Right - checked it again this evening, it now does trip the RCD with a direct connection. Removed new element, and found it has had a slot cut into it by the drum. Looking more carefully at the old element, it too has a less obvious wear mark in the same position. The drum bearings feel ok to me, but it looks like the bearings are failing, the drum has drooped and cut into the element allowing water in to it. By Dave - - 18 September 2014

Occasionally a element can trip due to a very small leakage current due to moisture in the element. This may clear after it has heated up a few times.

The washing machine does not start at all. Could it be the carbon brushers need replaced or a faulty motor? I'm not sure if the motor does not waork when the carbon brushes are worn out. Please advise.

  • If the washer was working normally and then the motor stops turning but everything else looks o.k. it is probably the brushes as they do wear out. This is a good value replacement product, They are a little bit fiddley to fit. Lots of patience. By Anonymous - N Wales - 28 May 2010
  • Likely to be the brushes. If the machine looks like its operating, making a clicking noise from the relay when it should be turning the drum, but the drum doesn't turn, then that's what it will most likely be. Either that or the belt has gone, but you will see that straight away when you take the back off the machine & you'd here the motor turning in that case If you take the brushes out they are approx 2" (50mm) long when new, chances are they will be about 5mm long if worn out. Back Panel 2 Answers

Hi Rory, Great clear video. It looks easy enough so I had a go. Got the top panel off but the back and side panels seems to be all one piece. There is no panel I can take off at the back to expose the belt and motor. Any suggestions

  • sorry should have said WFL2260UK/04 is the model. Yes I removed a small centre panel but it still does not give me enough room. The 4 side panels are definitely all one piece. I have now laid it on it's side and trying to get at it from below. It's not easy butI will get it off, I think the bigger problem will be when I go to put it back together!! You did not give the make and model of your machine but some have a two piece cabinet that is screwed with a centre joint. There is usually plastic plugs at the centre bottom to be removed to access the hidden screws.
