A sharp lawnmower blade is essential to help continue to get the effective cutting performance that you have been used to receiving from your mower.
If you want a good looking lawn all year round, then using a blade sharpener will help ensure your blade is always at its best performance - meaning your grass will cut cleanly for a lush green lawn.
Specification:
Instructions for use:
1. Measure the sharpener along the bottom fixed blade and cut to size with a hacksaw.
2. Using the mower's adjustment screws, move the fixed blade away from the cutting cylinder.
3. After cleaning the fixed blade, push the sharpener into place with the abrasive facing the cutting cylinder.
4. Tighten the adjustment screws, both sides equally, until the cylinder just touches the abrasive strip and can still be carefully rotated by hand.
Hand mowers: Push mower on a firm surface for approximately two minutes.
Electric mowers: Reconnect to electricity supply and switch on for approximately one minute.
Petrol movers: Reconnect the spark plug lead, start up and run for approximately one minute.
5. Switch off, disconnect, and check that all cylinder cutters are sharp. If not; repeat steps 4 and 5.
6. Remove the sharpener and adjust the gap between the cylinder and the fixed blade so that they just touch as the cylinder is turned.
7. Once the mower has been used a few times, check again that the blades just touch and adjust as necessary.
Safety:
Always make your machine safe to handle before fitting any spare part or accessory. Always wear gloves when handling the cutting cylinder.
Electric machines: Always unplug from the electricity supply before dismantling.
Petrol machines: Always disconnect the spark plug lead and extinguish any naked flames before dismantling. Do not smoke when working on petrol engine machines.
