Open the hinge

Hi Every tutorial I have watched about these hinges shows the hinge open and the locking clip in the up position. My hinges have arrived closed ( as in the stock photo )with the locking clip in the body of the hinge. How do I open the hinge enough to release the locking clip to the up position and fit the hinges. We have tried to fit the hinges as they have come but is impossible to clip the hinge into the oven slot with the locking clip down. The old hinges stay slightly open when removed and can easily be re-fitted because of this. Please help

Try using a 'ring spanner' or a close fitting socket and extension bar to lever the tongue open and using a small screwdriver pop up the catch to lock the hinge in the open position. Extreme care must be taken as the spring is very strong and could injure you if the tongue slips whilst locating the clip. Only move the clip with a screwdriver to prevent accidental injury.
