Where does the Spring go?

I have a HVR200 and it has stopped working. I have checked the fuse. I am guessing it is the switch. Willing to take a punt at circa £10. Have taken Henry apart but cannot see that it ever had a spring. Is there in integral spring in a new switch?

We cannot locate this part on the exploded diagram and do not think it applies to the On/Off or Speed switch. If the machine spluttered for a while and then stopped check the brushes. If it just stopped suddenly check the mains lead for continuity and signs of damage.
