Noisy when draining but nothing in the filter

I have a Bosch washing machine that is noisy when draining. There is nothing in the filter but about a litre of water drains out of when I remove the filter after each wash. I can turn the drain pump freely with my fingers and it doesn't make a noise or seem to be worn. Is this a sign the pump needs replacing or should I be looking for something else? Many thanks

It is normal for there to be a small amount of water in the filter but if the noise only occurs when the drain pump is running it suggests the pump motor is failing.
