Do I remove rubber bit joining filter to base?

I notice the replacement spare (two cup filter) has a rubber attachment to separate the porous bit of the filter from the base. In my original filter it was all in one and did not separate from the filter - and there was no rubber. Should I remove the rubber part or leave it as it is?

  • We have this type of basket and it is the intention that you remove the rubber ring section when cleaning the basket - it helps considerably. We have an old type non-removable section as well which makes cleaning pretty impossible. By Dave F - Dorset - 07 December 2018
