I bought the compatible fan element and fitted it but when connected the electrics did not function. I unscrewed to check the connection and one of the wires sprung back and disappeared through the hole in the back of the oven. How can I retrieve?

Remove the oven from its housing and remove the back panel of the case to access and refit the wire.
