Does this grill element simply "plug straight in " to the inner back wall of lower oven ? Original element was removed for cleaning but when refitted now blows main fuse! I am assuming that original element became faulty on removing as working OK before

Hi Haggis, the element fits in to the socket at the back of the oven and is secured with screws. The vital thing is to make sure the element is securely fitted - if not, it can short and fail. Failing that, it could be that the element was damaged when you removed it, were cleaning it, or when you put it back in.
