How can I fix the new element?

This is a replacement main oven element for a Bosch HBE660HGB/02 built-in oven. I had to drill the heads off the old screws as they were rusted in and/or the clips/spire nuts have rusted to bits. Two of the fixings are now holes of about 6-8 mm diameter. The other still has a bit of screw stuck in it. I think it would be a bit dangerous to use the oven without proper fixings for the element!

  • In fact, it is necessary to take the Bosch oven out of the unit in order to get at the back. The element is held in by 2 screws from the front and one nut and washer from the back. It probably won't be possible to replace the stuck screw without making another hole, but you can use a screw with a nut round the back for the other fixing. You'll need a couple of washers to cover the hole. Hopefully, that will be enough to hold the element securely. By dbriggs - Sutton Coldfield - 26 February 2010
