The filter on this particular Hotpoint model consists of a fine mesh outer filter, a stainless steel filter, and the two parts that come as a single filter kit.

You need to take the filter out from the dishwasher and check for any food particles, and also ensure that it is free from any signs of damage. If the filter is damaged in any way, it would need to be replaced.
