How to Replace the Door Glass on a Bosch Washing Machine

If the glass on your washing machine door has become cracked or damaged, it could end up leaking or be dangerous and need to be replaced. In this article, we're going to run you through replacing the door glass on a Bosch washing machine with our step-by-step guide.

Before you begin, make sure your washing machine is switched off and unplugged from the mains.

Step 1: Find the correct door glass for your model

To make sure you purchase the correct replacement glass for your washing machine door, you're going to need to find out the model number and details of your appliance. These can usually be found on the inside of your washing machine door or on the removable kickplate panel at the bottom of the appliance. If you can't find it here, check the side or the back of your washing machine. The model number usually consists of a combination of letters and numbers and could also include characters such as a dash (-) or a slash (/).

Step 2: Note the position of your door glass beforehand

Before you start the replacement, you should note the shape and position of the door glass. This is to make sure you fit the new one in the correct position too. The model pictured below, for example, has a bulb shape at the bottom on the inner side. It's worth taking a photo of the positioning before you begin to refer back to it later.

Step 3: Remove the door assembly

To start the replacement, remove the two screws that hold the hinge and door assembly in place using a Torx head screwdriver. Once the screws are removed, carefully lift the door assembly away.

Step 4: Remove the screws from the door

Place the door on a flat surface. Then remove all of the screws around the inside of the door, including the screw that's hidden beneath the sticker. This will allow you to separate the two halves of the door and access the door glass.

Step 5: Remove the hinge

Once the screws are removed, lift out the door hinge.

Step 6: Separate the inner and outer door panels

To separate the two panels, place the door upside down and let the inner door drop down.

You can then remove both the outer door panel and the glass cover on top of the door glass.

Step 7: Replace the door glass

Making sure you take note of the position of the door glass. Again, take a photo if this helps. Then, lift off the frame.

Next, remove the old glass and replace it with the new door glass, using the photo of the positioning for reference.

Step 8: Refit the door glass cover and panels

Put the frame and glass cover back into place on the new door glass.

Then refit the outer door panel back into place on top of the glass and lift up the inner door panel.

Step 9: Refit the hinge

Turn the door back over and refit the hinge back between the panels.

Step 10: Refit the screws

Return all of the screws you removed from the door earlier and screw them back into place.

Step 11: Refit the door to your washing machine

To refit the door, screw the hinge back into place on the washing machine.
