If the fan oven motor has faltered you’ll struggle to get the hot air circulating throughout your oven - when this happens you’ll need a replacement. What you Will Need:
Step 1 - Safety Advice
Safety First! Please make sure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before beginning any repair.
Caution: Due to the sharp edges exposed we suggest suitable Safety Gloves are worn to help prevent injury when carrying out this repair.
Step 2 - Oven Removal
If you have a built-in oven like the one in the video, you will need to remove it from its cavity and to do this simply remove the screws either side of the cavity and lift it out - followed by removing any cables if required at the back. Your cooker should now in an open space so you can really begin to get to work.
Step 3 - Make Some Space
Now with the oven removed and easy to work on you need to remove the door. Doing this is easy, simply unclip the the hinge flaps and you can lift the door away with minimal effort. Now the door is out of the way remove the shelves.
WIth nothing in the way you can unscrew the the fan cover which is located at the back. It is worth measuring the length of the shaft on the existing motor.
eSpares Top Tip: It is worth checking this before ordering your new compatible motor because the shaft is a defining feature which could prevent you from having a motor which fits.
Step 4 - Disconnect
With the fan cover off and the shaft has been checked, spin the oven around - to access the fan unscrew the screws and disconnect the electrical connectors (you can take a photo of the wires here to help you remember where they go). Unscrew another set of screws, remove the nut, which is a reverse thread - so it loosens the opposite way and the fan will be released.
Step 5 - Reassembly
The time has come to fit the new motor! Slot in the motor and screw it in. Now that is done, next simply re-attach the wires (refer back to the photo you took to help when reattaching). All that is left now is to start putting things back together again.
Remembering to put the blade on, followed by the nut - but remember it tightens in the opposite direction to what you may think!
All that remains now is to put the panel back on inside your oven in front of the fan, re-fit the door - remember to put the latches down on the door when you are re-fitting so you can close your door and fit the oven back into the cabinet.
