  • This happened to mine also, its because water got into the heating element, what you need to do is take off the back and dry the heating element using a hair dryer, it was only excess water but it did the damage, after 10 minutes of drying i put it back together and waaalllah it was working perfectly again, hope this helps :) By Boshamooay - Stockport - 27 February 2014

Answer this question

took the back off and partner noticed the elements were snapped. He stopped the tumble dryer while it was still on before we left to go out. Went to turn it on when we came back, and it just made a pathetic buzzing noise. Will this do my Hotpoint CTD00G???

This will replace the heater but if the unit still just buzzes check the door lock and motor capacitor.

There is cut outs at the back as well as thermostat at the front and the timer turns the heat off for the last ten minutes of running. This heater has the thermostat and cut out attached and to replace it see our video: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/9/1284/how-to-fix-a-dryer-thats-not-heating-up-hotpo Please note if the dryer is stopped when hot it can cause the cut out to fail.

the elements are in two sets of two in series, so although you think only one is heating it will heat in two sections. Measure with a meter and you should get a reading between blue and orange and blue and red. I suspect one has failed and you will need to replace the heater unit.

Answer this question

afterwards the machine started blowing cold air.would this point to a breakdown of the thermo or would you suspect the heater.

Could be the thermostat, the element or even a combination of both. Self diagnosis can be tricky so I would really recommend having a professional look at it.

  • Is most probably the heating element!!!. take out the heating element a look to see if it is broken. It should have a broken coil which will not allow the circuit to generate heat... Check this first.. By m - Kenley - 14 November 2011
