Watched the instruction video for this, which was excellent. Follow the advice to put some lubricant around the seal as makes life much easier. If only front would have come off my washing machine my knuckles would have remained intact.
Only real difficulty is fitting the spring clamp to hold seal in place. This is tricky and really needs many hands to hold it while easing it on. Try bicycle tyre levers.

Did not match the machine even though we "matched" on line and then double checked with the espares operator who confirmed we had bought the right spare. The video showing the fitting is brilliant only our machine front is welded on so we had to refer to a youtube video even then we had to call the chap responsible for the video to ask if we were doing it right! All in all a truly frustrating experience only to find that the part was different once we finally got the old one off.
There are two small drain holes, to prevent sitting water in the rubber ring. If you position, the moulded rubber part at the top, then the drain holes will be at the bottom, where they are supposed to be

Hi Pete,
I know you probably didn't mean it the way said it, but the seal doesn't actually fit to the drum, it fits to the static part of the washer just in front of the rotating drum.
First you need to remove the top of your washer and carefully remove what you can from the top of the inside such as the water feed to the deturgent tray, cross strangtheners etc. I found it best to take a few photos with your phone to remind yourself where it all goes back. You should be able to remove the control panel from the top of the front panel, there will probably be a couple of wires still attached but they are long enough to get it out of the way. With the door open, you should be able to remove the front seal retainer and then the seal from the front, once removed you can access the rear of the seal and the retaining spring (device). Clean everything up with some soapy water and fit the new seal, simples!
You can move or hold the drum back slighly (3 to 4 inces) to give you a better view, you may need another pair of hands, but you have to work from the top of the inside of the washer, it's tight! Just take your time and double check the positioning of the seal (drain holes at six O'Clock) before closing up and reffiting everything you removed. Good luck - it's not that bad a job really and if you get really stuck, you can always call out an engineer, at least you'll have a new seal!
QThe new seal pictured has an additional drain tab/protrusion which my old seal does not have. Will this fit my machine or is there an alternative?1 Answer

Hi oddjob, if your model number is listed as fitting this part, it will fit. However I'd just double check, as generally speaking, if your original seal doesn't have that protrusion on it, the replacement shouldn't either.
QDo you need to use a sealant on the seal?1 Answer
When fitting I have read some advice to seal the sealing edge with a product called debor, is this necessary and do you advise its use?

Hi Barrington
