Although we spent considerable time trying to ensure that we ordered the correct door seal when it arrived we realised it wasn't right. In fairness we were able to know what seal we did need and the replacement product and returns process couldn't be faulted. We used Mat's eSpares Video to help us and without it we would have been completely at sea. However this really isn't as simple as it appears and the Video spends most of its time explaining how to remove the door seal and doesn't, in our opinion, spend enough time in how to re-fit the door seal. There are also some tips and drills not covered which makes fitting the door seal easier. For example applying Fairy Liquid (or equivalent) around edge of seal when inserting new seal on washing machine makes it alot less stressful!! Also it made light of fixing the metal band around the seal which we found extremely difficult. Jokingly we felt we should have sent in our own video version!!

  • Q The Door does not appear to close with the new seal! 1 Answer

I have rechecked it is the right part, and fit it myself with the very useful online video. But the door does not want to close, and opens up without locking into place! i had a new door catch a while ago and that all seems fine! any help appreciated.

You probably don't want to hear this but it is critical that the seal and its retaining strap are fitted and seated absolutely correctly in the lip of the washer front at all points of the circumference - slightly proud anywhere and the door will not latch closed. Once I had done this the door closed and locked properly.......
